CrossVegas is entering its tenth year and its second year as a UCI World Cup. The race brings out the best cyclocross racers in the world, and is no longer open to just any UCI racer but limited to ones who make their country’s World Cup selection team.

In 2007, in its first year, CrossVegas was a bit of a different animal, with a largely-domestic field, and a lot more dollar and beverage hand-ups. Back then, carbon cyclocross bikes were relatively rare, disc brakes were banned, Tim Johnson’s Nine Ball kit was making its debut, Kona’s Twin Towers of Ryan Trebon and Barry Wicks were a force to be reckoned with, and live streaming wasn’t a thing, yet.

Today, for Throwback Thursday we’re bringing you highlights of that inaugural 2007 CrossVegas race, thanks to the Nine Ball Diaries and DH Productions TV.

While the UCI status of the race and caliber of the field may have changed, the thick grass and captive bike industry crowd still made for tough racing and an exciting spectacle. Enjoy.
