  The American ’cross season is in full swing with two full weekends and two Wednesday night extravaganzas completed, the European season is just getting underway and now the first USGP is here. It really is ’cross season. Sometimes I don’t believe it’s real. How can the best bike racing season, which we’ve been waiting so long for really be here already? Didn’t we just finish last season? Anyways, onward we go, there is a long winter coming up and lots of rumors to talk about. In this week’s edition: Euro ’Cross is back on TV, start looking for your live feeds, folks. Kevin Pauwels takes a big win for his new team in Erpe-Mere. Zdenek Stybar will be showing off the new Quick Step rainbow stripes in Stribro this weekend. Enrico Franzoi has found a home with the Guerciotti team, he lines up for the first time this weekend in Switzerland. Is it true that Pro ’crossers actually understand the worth of their equipment? At least Tom Meeusen does. Amy Dombroski heads back to her motherland for the season. With a venerable “who’s who” of ’cross lining up in Sun Prairie this weekend, is there really a favorite? • Bart Wellens Adds More US Dates to his Fall Cyclocross Schedule

  We already reported on Belgian cyclocross superstar Bart Wellen’s plans to start his season in the US. Now, it appears that in addition to StarCrossed and the Rad Racing GP, Wellens and teammate Rob Peeters will be adding even more US cyclocross racing to their itineraries.

  Bart Wellens, Telenet-Fidea’s cyclocross star, has officially signed to race the Rad Racing GP, promoter Jim Brown told Cyclocross Magazine on Saturday in Seattle. The Belgian cyclocross veteran has also been confirmed to be contesting StarCrossed, the second race of the Cross After Dark series, the night before.

  The two-time Elite Cyclocross World Champion and three-time U23 Cyclocross World Champion will be making his first trip to American soil to race cyclocross this September, and is expected to have teammate Rob Peters in tow as the two follow Frenchman Francis Mourey’s successful season-opening schedule of 2010 by contesting CrossVegas, StarCrossed, Rad Racing GP and the first weekend of the USGP in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

  It’s time to really start thinking about ’cross season, maybe even starting to glue up some tires if you haven’t already. Now that it’s that time of the year again, heading out and pinning, or zip-tying, numbers up is probably a good idea. The Pro racers have that in mind too as they’re out getting the race miles in to prepare for a strong ’cross season.

  This week, the Tour of California is being absolutely dominated by ’cross riders, with Jamey Driscoll, Jesse Anthony, Jeremy Powers, Lars Boom and Ben Jacques-Maynes all making appearances at the front of the race. [See some of our race coverage of Stage 2, Stage 3 and Stage 4.] Sven Nys is on his way to his second Olympic games after a second place finish to Julien Absalon. John Gadret came oh-so-close last week to a stage win at the Giro, but clearly that wasn’t good enough for the Frenchmen, as he sealed the deal this week with a Stage 11 win. Is Kaitlin Antonneau making a switch to the mountain bike? Rumors are brewing that the USGP may make a stop in Bend, OR. This week’s Working Man’s Edition takes another look at Justin Lindine as he heads to Canada for the Coupe de Quebeque and Spencer Paxson as he crosses the pond for the Dalby Forest World Cup.
