BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – New York-based Sommerville Sports announced today that it will be the official clothing sponsor of current National Cyclocross Champion Jonathan Page through the end of the 2016 UCI Cyclocross season. Page, a Utah-based professional cyclist who won the 2013 National Championships in Madison, Wisconsin this past January, will don Sommerville Sports cycling and running apparel beginning in May.

“We are really thrilled to work with Jonathan,” said Jed Kornbluh, National Sales Director for Sommerville Sports. “He’s a consummate professional and we’re confident that he’s a great fit for our growing organization. We’re so excited to have the National Champ’s jersey hanging in our office!”

Sommerville Sports joins a list of sponsors, also including Advanced Sports, who will supply Page with Fuji bicycles for upcoming seasons.

While I totally understand the importance of sponsorsip (especially a multi-year deal) I'm disappointed that J.P. isn't sticking with our mutual friends at Verge Sport. As an outsider looking in, it looked like a really good relationship based more on friendship and respect than on results and dollars. I know Verge really bent over backward to take care of his needs when other sponsors left him high and dry. This isn't an indictment of his decision, I'll still be cheering for him next season. But I thought the never-say-quit, independent racer and the high-quality, small business partnership between Jon and Verge Sport was really special.
