Sun, sand, surf and cyclocross!  Celo Pacific Bicycle Racing Team announces Storm the Beach Cyclocross 2010 presented by Bailey Bikes.

The cyclocross season thus far in Southern California has offered a diverse set of challenges including over 100 degree heat, sticky mud and international level competitors. Next up, cycling team Celo Pacific, with the support of their presenting sponsor Bailey Bikes, brings you Storm the Beach Cyclocross Race in Oceanside, California as Round #8 of the SoCalCross PRESTIGE SERIES presented by H2O Overdrive.

This seaside course is patterned after the famous Duinencross race in Koksijde, Belgium.  Racers will be challenged by steep seaside bluffs, undulating sand dunes, high speed fire roads and the Pacific Ocean itself as they dodge the surf for 400 meters along incoming waves. The race has been scheduled again this year to coincide with low tide so that nobody will actually have to ride the waves as occurred two years ago (then again, if you want to go for a dip with your bike, we’re not going to stop you!)

After the race, you’ll be able to wash off those layers of sand, dust, and sea spray courtesy of Nomad Portable Power Cleaners.

Even if you don’t want to race, come on out and watch: Spectators can expect to see great racing all day long. The best cyclocross talent in the region will be chasing SoCalCross Prestige Series points and a generous prize list. Among others, local Elite racer and course designer, Brent Prenzlow will attempt to fend off John Bailey, John Behrens, and the rest to continue his undefeated winning streak on this course.
