Oudenaarde, Belgium — The 2011/12 cyclocross season will see Canada’s Craig Richey and Great Britain’s Gabby Day race for the Renner Custom Cyclocross Team.  Building from the success of sponsoring Gabby Day last season, team manager Gregg Germer has expanded his support to include Canada’s Craig Richey.

“I’m really excited to build up from last years support of Gabby and expand the team to include another rider this year,” said Gregg Germer. “Craig stayed with us at The ChainStay last year and showed incredible dedication to his training and racing. I saw over the season he had the right mentality to succeed in the hard Belgian cross races. His dedication has already shown through with his recent win of the Bastion Square Crit, despite doing a full off-season training load. Craig is going to surprise a lot of racers this year.”

When asked about Gabby Day, Gregg said: “Gabby was such a great rider to support this past winter. She had her most consistent year to date and despite a rocky start to the year with her crash in Namur, she came on stronger as the year progressed. We talked at the end of the year about ways to improve her weaknesses and build on her strengths. Between Gabby and Craig we will have a very strong duo during the year.”

Both Gabby and Craig will start their seasons in the US, with Craig opting to start his season with StarCrossed and Gabby with the Nittany Cross in Pennsylvania. Richey will compete in North America until Canadian Nationals in early November before joining Day over in Europe. Day will compete in the US through to the Gloucester GP before returning to Europe.

Craig Richey, the Canadian crosser, will be racing far from home this season.

The teams principle sponsor, Renner Custom, is a new custom clothing company run by the team’s manager, Gregg Germer. When asked about his launch of the company and sponsorship of the team he said: “I’ve been looking for a new way to be further involved in the cycling world and cyclocross. The Chainstay house I run has been quite successful, but I wanted an additional means to help support a cyclocross team while at the same time providing for a demand in the cycling world. Through Renner Custom I am now able to provide teams with great quality and affordable custom clothing and at the same time have an additional means to help support a cyclocross team. To show Renner Custom’s support we are giving 100% of the profits on all orders made before December 1st directly into the cyclocross teams budget.”

This year the team will again be supported by SRAM and will be riding the all-new Raleigh RXC Pro carbon cross bike. Logistical and housing support with be through the teams base, The ChainStay, in Oudenaarde, Belgium; providing the riders a home-away from home during their stay in Europe. Challenge Tyres will be equipping the riders with a full range of tyres to tackle any race course condition. Additional support will come from Ritchey Logic, Avid and RockTape.
