If you take a look around at your average ‘cross race, you probably won’t see giraffes, dominatrices or swing-bike-riding Evel Knievels.

Safe to say, Cross Crusade isn’t your average ‘cross race, and Thunder Cross, their costume race—taking place at the Deschutes Brewery in Bend, featured both impressive costumes and the high caliber of racing we’ve come to expect from a Cross Crusade.

In a hard-fought battle in the Elite Men’s Race, Sean Babcock (Team S + M) won over Molly Cameron (Portland Bicycle Studio), with Joshua Johnson rounding out the podium, and in the Elite Women’s race, Clara Honsinger beat out day one winner Serena Bishop Gordon and Laura Winberry finished third.

Today’s photo gallery, shot by CXM contributor Matthew Lasala, takes a look at the impressive costumes of the Cross Crusade and the heated racing action that went down in Bend.
