While it may not have been the start line of a World Cup, Niels Albert and Bart Wellens took to the Flandriencross course in Hamme, Belgium for a charity race featuring other Belgian former World Champions.

Along with Albert and Wellens, Danny De Bie, Paul Herygers and Erwin Vervecken raced to raise money for The VZW Cardiac Research Fund, a Belgian charity that provides services to young adults with heart failure.

Niels Albert, Bart Wellens and a slew of former World Champions raised more than 24,000 Euro for young adults with heart failure.

While the racing didn’t appear too intense—it seems that most participants were not quite at their peak race conditioning—it’s good to see Albert and Wellens, along with others, having fun and raising money—nearly 25,000 Euros (700 of that donated by race winner Wout van Aert)— for a good cause.
