Newburgh’s Downing Park Ready for Inaugural Two-Day Race Weekend
(Newburgh, NY) October 10 & 11, 2009 – Eastern Sports Promotion is pleased to announce the first-ever cyclocross races in Downing Park in the City of Newburgh. A two day event, with both Amateur & Professional categories will start on October 10th at 9:15am. Professional Men & Women will start their races at 12:30pm. This race is part of the now famous NYCross.com race series, A nine-race series that starts in September & ends in November and travels through out N.Y. State & Vermont.
The challenging 1.6 mile course features paved carriage ways and grass routes, over a hilly terrain. Professional racers will compete for a total $750.00 purse per day.
Pre-Registration is requested, but not required. Riders can go to BikeReg.com to sign up. There is a discount for racers who wish to do a second race. Medals & merchandise for the amateur classes, cash payouts & merchandise for the Professional racers.
Sponsors for the event include, Hudson Valley Volkswagen, Adidas Eyewear, Road ID, Segway of the Hudson Valley, Hilton Garden Inn of Newburgh, Verge Sport, Trek Bicycles, Beth Mason P.T., Burgess Sign & Digital Art. There will be a “Vendors Row” area for Spectators & Racers to view cycling related products.The race is very spectator friendly, allowing up-close viewing as the racers go by.
Trek has donated a 2010 Race Lite Wheelset to be raffled off on Sunday. Saving the Best for last is the Official Food Vendor, “Wafels & Dinges” “Wafels & Dinges” is the ONLY Belgium Wafel concession truck in Manhattan & is making a trip to Newburgh for the event.
