Just as they did in 2008 by taking first and third, the women of Luna dominated this year’s Louisville USGP Day 1 podium, and with the addition of Alison Dunlap, nearly swept the top three spots today at the Derby City Cup.

Partly sunny skies and temps in the 50’s greeted the racers for this year’s edition of the Kentucky cyclocross classic. After newly crowned Canadian National Champion Alison Sydor (Rocky Mountain – Maxxis) took the holeshot, the Luna team wasted no time in hitting the front and taking contarol of the race.

Katerina Nash soon attacked, leaving teammate Gould and the rest of the field behind. Nash would never look back, extending her lead with fast laps to solo for the win. Georgia Gould would chase, following in second, half a minute in arrears.

Amy Dombroski (RGM Watches – Richard Sachs – Radix) crashed the Luna party, finishing in third and taking the most aggressive rider in the process.

Behind, Alison Dunlap outsprinted Meredith Miller (Cal Giant Berry) for fourth. Stay tuned for a full report.
