Joris Nieuwenhuis showed in Hoogerheide that he’s ready to be the fourth leg in a Dutch team attempt to sweep all five races at the 2017 Cyclocross World Championships in Bieles, Luxembourg.

The current World Cup leader had another dominant ride and commanding lead to take the U23 Men’s race in Hoogerheide over France’s Clement Russo and Belgian Thijs Aerts.

American Curtis White, coming off a disappointing National Championships in Hartford, had a bounce back performance with a top-ten finish in 10th.

Five Americans took the start, with Spencer Petrov in 23rd, newly-crowned U23 Champion Lance Haidet in 33rd, and collegiate champion Maxx Chance in 43rd. Gage Hecht did not finish.

Based on Hoogerheide’s results, the Netherlands has a serious shot at least at winning four, if not all five of the rainbow jerseys with Marianne Vos, Lars Van der Haar or Mathieu van Van der Poel, Annemarie Worst and Nieuwenhuis all heading into Worlds as favorites in their categories and Ryan Kamp finishing just 13 seconds back in the Junior Men’s race.
