Sint-Michielsgestel, The Netherlands – Richard Groenendaal celebrated his final season and upcoming retirement with a race in his name today. Unfortunately his compatriot, World Champion Lars Boom couldn’t join the celebration and wasn’t at the start, as the stitched wound he has from a fall in Loenhout’s Azencross is now infected and landed him back in the hospital.

Mirjam Melchers took the women’s race, ahead of Sanne van Paassen and Reza Hormes.

In the men’s side, Eddy van IJzendoorn took a surprise win ahead of an in-form Bart Wellens. Groenendaal couldn’t follow Nys’ in winning his own race, and finished in third.
