We’ve captured a ton of interesting bikes at both the 2012 UCI Cyclocross World Championships as well as the 2012 USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships, and we’re beginning the long, slow process of unveiling these bike profiles to you now.

Germany’s Feliz Drumm finished 15th in the ultra-competitive 2012 Junior World Championship race won by Matthieu van der Poel,  and the German’s bike certainly caught our eye in Koksijde. Drumm’s Giant TCX Advanced at first glance looks to be an ordinary race bike, but digging deeper you will see a few parts that stand out.

Built with a mix of SRAM Force and Red components, Felix Drumm’s TCX is pretty unique compared to the typical fully-Shimano-equipped TCX Advanced bikes of team Rabobank-Giant. Beyond just the SRAM components, the Lightweight wheels and custom brakes and cable hanger add to the bike’s allure.

The brakes are a custom component, much like the brakes the Rabobank-Giant made for their team riders, machined out of aluminum and have a med profile with relatively long arms, appearing to give them plenty of stopping power and decent mud clearance.  The truly unique part of this ride is the prototype cable hanger bolted through stem, to hold the front brake cable. It pivots a bit and brings the cable lower to the brake, perhaps to help eliminate brake shudder, and its placement doesn’t increase Drumm’s stack height.
