Fantasy Cyclocross Analysis – Week of October 5th

The week ended slowly for the C1 competition as the Badiquer Schmerikon was the only counted event and it was somewhat poorly attended by cyclocross’ elite. Jonathan Page continued his fine early season form, coming in 4th place behind winner Bart Aernouts, Simon Zahner and Florian Vogel. Page continues to be a workhorse for many teams but one wonders if this early form will run short as the competition comes into form. This weekend may be indicative as the season’s first Superprestige will send Page in against some of the heavy hitters of the sport. Helen Wyman picked up her first points of the season and proved why she was worth of last year’s 4th place overall finish. Wyman picked up 30 valuable points over Linda Van Rijen and Nicole Hanselmann and picked up a valuable bonus point in the process, winning by 2:04.

Jeremy Powers seems to be a solid choice for this week’s action as he will headline the field at the Harbin Park Cyclocross, America’s C1. Trebon and Johnson will be going mono-a-mono in Gloucester this weekend, and thereby not picking up any points. Powers, Wicks and Jonathan Baker are sure to move up the Fantasy ladder with good performances in Ohio. The same goes for Katie Compton, Georgia Gould and Susan Butler who are sure to be in the mix this weekend. Sadly, the Superprestige series is a sexist affair and no ladies points will be handed out across the pond.
