It was deja vu all over again at Jingle Cross Rock today, as Katerina Nash and Jeremy Powers repeated their performances from the night before and took the wins in their respective races.

In the women’s race, Amanda Miller, second place in Friday night’s race, took an early lead. However, the surprise was when Beth Orton took over the lead soon thereafter, bringing Elle Anderson to the front with her. Before long, Anderson had created a gap of her own, and was being chased by Courtenay McFadden, Catherine Pendrel and Katerina Nash, while Miller and Orton faded back.

Anderson worked to increase her gap, and was joined by CalGiant teammate Meredith Miller at the front, but Luna teammates Pendrel and Nash were chasing hard.

Nash overcame Anderson and took the lead, but Anderson locked onto her wheel and the two began trading the lead. Nash opened a small gap and grew it, while Anderson fell back and joined Pendrel chasing. Nash grew her gap as Pendrel put in a dig that brought her into second. As Nash took the win, Pendrel retained her second place standing while Anderson came in for third, followed by Amanda Miller for fourth.

In the men’s race, Tim Johnson, Jeremy Durrin and Sean Milne started the race strong with an early lead on lap 1. Adam Craig took over the lead after the hip, but Johnson and Durrin chased close behind while Logan Owen, Ben Berden and Jeremy Powers worked to reel them in.

After one lap, the lead group was nine riders strong, but Craig retained the front position. A crash took out Durrin, who fell back several seconds while Johnson, Craig, Owen, Powers and Berden stayed steady at the front. Behind them, a group containing Brian Matter, Jamey Driscoll, and Justin Lindine worked to catch the pack.

Owen attacked mid-way through the race, with Johnson responding immediately and the two opened a gap between themselves and Craig, Powers and Berden. The five were back together minutes later, and Durrin and Driscoll were closing fast. The two groups rejoined and with two to go, the lead group was surprisingly full.

And within that lap, Powers made his move and attacked, his gap to Berden and then to Craig growing steadily.

Powers again took the win, with Berden again taking second. Adam Craig snatched up third, with Tim Johnson in fourth and new-to-Elites Logan Owen in fifth.
