De Bie Wins Juniors at Zolder, U.S. National Champ McDonald in Sixth – Full Report

zolder-jr-zachmcdonald.jpg Belgian Sean de Bie has won the third race of the Junior World Cup in Zolder on second Christmas Day. The young Belgian animated the race together with Dutch riders Lars van der Haar and World Cup leader Tijmen Eising. In the final lap Eising made some little mistakes and wasn’t able to sprint for victory. In the sprint, Sean de Bie was the strongest ahead of Lars van der Haar. Belgians Wietse Bosmans and Bart de Vocht completed the top five. Zach Mc Donald from the USA rode a strong race and finished as sixth.

The USA had six starters with Mc Donald, Kaiser, Mannion, Wallace, Goguen and Emsky. Only Emsky didn’t finished the race.

Dutch Tijmen Eising remains in the overall lead of the World Cup with a total of 160 points. Lars van der Haar is second with 140 points and Wietse Bosmans third with 113 points. Luke Keough is with 55 points the best American at rank 11. McDonald is 22nd with 30 points.

The final World Cup for Juniors will take place in Roubaix on January 18. Full results and photo gallery below.
