Costume ’Cross is one of our favorite traditions of October cyclocross. It’s hard to beat the combination of grassroots cyclocross racing, Halloween costumes, fall foliage, pumpkins and in some areas, cooler temps.

Santa Cruz County’s Surf City Cyclo-X series is the longest-running cyclocross series in the nation, and its costume race is one of the oldest such races in the country. This year’s All Hallow’s Cross race featured plenty of costumes, and some top-level racing once the costumes were put away. Tobin Ortenblad, Elle Anderson and Caroline Dezendorf all toed the line for some NABRA-sanctioned racing close to home.

Cyclocross Magazine was present to capture a few highlights from the racing on Sunday at Santa Cruz’s Harbor high school. See some of our favorite costumes, a tricked-out cyclocross bike, and a few cyclocross pros who made the trip to Santa Cruz’s Harbor high school.
