Maile and Trux Score Wins against the Competition and the Wind College Cyclery Compound; Sacramento Cyclocross Series

The cyclocross season is now well underway in Northern California. Following the CCCX season opener two weeks ago and this past week’s Folsom’s Cyclebration, two more events took place this past weekend. The CCCX series continued at Fort Ord and, at the College Cyclery Compound, the Sacramento Cyclocross Series opened its season. Temperatures held to a comfortable range at West Sacramento but the wind blew throughout the day and was particularly strong toward the end of the event. Racers and spectators alike complained about the cooler conditions, since this early in the season, the legwarmers are still buried in attics and basements. However, the cooler weather didn’t seem to hurt the Euro visitors, and Helen Wyman and Ian Field repeated their winning performances from last week at Nittany Lion Cross.

Big Finn Hill park, for the second year in a row, played host to the Kick Off Cross race delivered by Cycle University. Unseasonably warm weather, or a late summer as some would say, left the race course with burn-out grass and had racers churning up dust from the opening gun.

Christian Heule Wins First US Race With QuadCross

Sunday, Christian Heule proved that he is in the US for a reason this season: to win races. As the newest rider for Cannondale-CyclocrossWorld.com, he had big shoes to fill — Jerey Powers’ cycling shoes, to be precise. But so far, so good. Last night, he tweeted, “First race today for Cannondale-CyclocrossWorld.com and I won it. Thanks Stu Thorne for supporting me as car driver and mechanic.”
