One of the annual traditions of Cyclocross Magazine is reflecting back on a year filled with reviewing products and award those that struck us as the best of the best in the realms of cyclocross, gravel and cycling gear. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be releasing all of the awards one day at a time. Be sure to keep checking back to see what products are most worth your hard-earned dollars. Issue 28 also has the Editors’ Awards and the Readers’ Choice awards, so be sure to order your backcopy today, which is also available on Uberflip, in the App Store on iTunes, and on Google Play for Android.

We have already unveiled the 2015 Editors’ Choice Best Overall Clincher Tire as the WTB Cross Boss, and on the tubular side of things, we also revealed the Best Affordable Tubular Wheelset of the Neugent A220DTW. If you count yourself as committed to  we take a look at the 2015 Best Mud Tubular, going to the FMB Super Mud.

The FMB-designed tread has great grip in slippery conditions with its small but numerous Z-shaped knobs. The FMB beats out other tires because of the exquisitely supple hand-made cotton casing. The sidewalls are coated with latex for protection from the elements, and if you want more, the Pro version has a thicker coating.

Both Mo Bruno-Roy and Katie Compton sported the FMB Super Mud Pro with the distinctive colored sidewall. Mark Legg-Compton has reported that he like the tire as the sidewall doesn’t fold in the corners. Want a little more color on the tread and less on the sidewall? You can always follow Wout van Aert’s lead and go green with FMB’s silica treads.
