  • Cummings and Shogren Take PACX Wins at Murrysville Cyclocross

    Murrysville Cyclocross always means mud and as the only PA Cycling event in the Western part of the state, it’s a very desirable race to take part in. This year, for the first time in the race’s existence, Murrysville was held under a cloudless sky with dry course conditions. Betsy Shogren and Stephen Cummings were able to make the most of the conditions and take the rare PACX points.

  • Kaiser and Magnuson Win Sacramento Cyclocross Series, Round 3

    The Sacramento Cyclocross Series took place in Grass Valley with some notable racers: National Masters champions Linda and John Elgart as well as U23 2011 World Championship competitor Cody Kaiser. Two distinct areas made up the cyclocross course at Condon Park. The wooded area had compacted trails and was very technical. The “pond section” started with a fast downhill out of the wooded section followed by wide turns before the plank barriers. Conditions were fast for this year’s dry event.

At 11°c with cloudy skies, we were promised real cyclocross conditions — a change from the dry spell we’ve had so far.

  • Interbike 2011: Mercury Cycling’s New Wheel Offerings

    Mercury is following the trend of increasing rim width for better stability out on the course. For the glue-sniffing set this means a wider surface to lay the adhesive on, resulting in a firmer connection between tire and rim and, based on your gluing prowess, fewer incidences of rolled tires. The better connection between rubber and metal can also mean better cornering as the tires retain their shape better in the corners.
