Albert, coming back from a wrist injury, and Vos, following a fuller cyclocross program after her traditional break from the road season, dominated their respective fields today [...]

by Chris Bagg NAMUR, BELGIUM — Marianne Vos rode away from the field today in Namur, Belgium, looking unstoppable in her campaign for a fifth cyclocross World Championship. By Robert Annis for Planet Adventure INDIANAPOLIS, IN—For some, Saturday’s cyclocross race at Major Taylor Velodrome was a welcome return to form. Kevin Pauwels (Sunweb-Revor) continued his excellent season today, winning at the incredibly hilly Ronse GVA Trofee race. They call it “riding the brown stripe.” It’s the dirty mark of a dialed course, the kind of course you usually only see on Belgian TV, and Cincy3 Cyclocross Festival had it on Sunday at Harbin Park in Fairfield, Ohio. With plenty of muddy patches after a record rainfall on Thursday, every racer of the day took home a little piece of the park. Katie Compton (Rabobank) and Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) took home the trophy, prize money and (most importantly) the big UCI C1 points.
DEVOU PARK, KENTUCKY—In the women’s race, after UCI officials checked every rider’s tire width, the French national champion Caroline Mani (CC Etupes Le Doubs Pays De Montbeliard) snagged the soft holeshot from pavement to grassy downhill with Sue Butler (River City Bicycles-Ridley), Georgia Gould (LUNA), Kaitlin Antonneau (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com), Katie Compton (Rabobank-Giant) and Meredith Miller (Cal [...]
Devou Park, Kentucky — A record one-day rainfall of 1.65 inches Thursday night caused many riders to mount their Limus and Rhino tires in order to tackle the run-off filled mud pits at three points on the course in Northern Kentucky today, the first race of the Cincy3 Cyclocross Festival. Between the quad busting climbs, [...]
by Chris Bagg, with help from Christine Vardaros TABOR, CZECH REPUBLIC—Just as they did in the women’s race, the moments on this Tabor course that forced the riders off their bikes made the decisive gaps. A greasy, off-camber corner let opportunistic riders break away from the packs, and the giant stairs that preceded a steep [...]
