Any questions who this bike belongs to? by Andrew Yee

Cross Vegas is in the books, and it was a coming out party for Giant’s new Carbon Prototype cyclocross frame. Not only was Craig using a fancy new frame that Giant is developing for its factory team riders as well as it’s Rabobank squad, Craig was one of two men riding the race on Shimano’s new Di2 electric components (the other being Molly Cameron). While Craig’s bike did not tip the scales with any breathtaking lack of weight, it is still a prototype, and Giant is still tweaking their frame design. Attempts to weigh the bike were met with rebuke, but a conservative estimate by Mr. Craig put the weight “around 17 pounds or so.” It should be noted that Giant’s mechanics had Craig on a rather overbuilt downhill stem and deep dish Shimano carbon wheels, which added a bit of extra weight that should not be found on the production model of the bike.
