Maureen Bruno Roy’s MM Racing Team Also Seeking Sponsors

Mo Bruno Roy has joined Katie Compton as another U.S. Elite Women cyclocrosser seeking a major sponsor for the upcoming season. Is the down economy going to have a major impact on top-level U.S. racing this season? We hope not.
After failing to secure financial sponsorship in 2008, the duo of Maureen Bruno Roy and Matt Roy realized they were their own “title sponsor” and decided to create their own team MM Racing and utilized a combination of working full time and credit cards in order to continue racing. Although MM Racing has been making progress lining up equipment sponsors such as Seven Cycles, SRAM, Wheelworks, Mavic and several small product sponsorships, the team continues to seek any financial support for 2009 to offset the costs of training, racing and travel.

Our bike weight poll (aka Weight Weenie test) is over, and the results were interesting. Now we’re out to find out how you all got your start in bike racing. Was it via fat tires? Cyclocross Bike Weights: Coming Down, or Easy to Underestimate?

Our last poll asked what your cyclocross bike weighs. The results were a little surprising, even considering our die-hard audience of dedicated ‘crossers.
Of those of you who reported weights, nearly half of you estimate your bike to be 18 pounds or less, with 16% of you have bikes under 17 pounds, with pedals. One reader, “CXMan” even said, “I think you need to ratchet your poll two pounds lower to 16-17 and 15-16 lbs.”
